ALPHA HYDROXY ACIDS (AHAs)
AHAs are a family of naturally occurring acids that work as exfoliants and also target skin’s supportive matrix. They have the unique ability to slough away surface skin cells to reveal softer, smoother, less visibly lined skin. AHAs are an ingredient solution for refining texture and creating uniformity of the skin’s surface. Use in conjunction with sunscreen protection.
GLYCOLIC ACID (AHA)
is a natural constituent of sugar cane and normalises the skin’s exfoliation process, refining the appearance of pore size and smoothing the look of fine lines and wrinkles as it re-texturises skin. Some of our NEOSTRATA® products formulated with Glycolic Acid have been enhanced with an innovative delivery system known as our Smart Amphoteric Complex. Our Smart Amphoteric Complex provides the ability to deliver Glycolic Acid in a gradual fashion, ensuring efficacy while minimising the potential for irritation. Check the product pages to learn which products include this. Glycolic Acid is known to be the workhorse of the AHA family for those looking to really retexture and refine their skin’s surface!
CITRIC ACID (AHA/BHA)
is found naturally in citrus fruits and is a powerful Alpha/Beta Hydroxy Acid that has antioxidant and antiaging effects, helping to minimise the visible signs of photodamage. This AHA/BHA gives the added benefit of being a powerful antioxidant to help protect skin against the visible signs of oxidative stress and make skin appear more youthful.
MANDELIC ACID (AHA)
Mandelic acid is found naturally in almonds and is a lipophilic, oil-loving AHA, making it ideal for use on oily skin. Mandelic Acid also reduces oily shine over time. This is the perfect AHA for oily and blemish-prone skin types.
POLYHYDROXY ACIDs (PHAs - Gluconolactone and Bionic Acid)
Are the 2nd and 3rd generation of hydroxy acids. They work as exfoliants yet are designed for sensitive and dehydrated skin due to their natural gentleness. PHAs provide high-strength anti-ageing benefits, are known antioxidants and do not make the skin sensitive to sunlight. Notably, they can be used for even the most delicate skin types. PHAs are an ingredient solution for providing renewed exfoliated softness and clarity, but doing so in a gentle, hydrating way for all skin types.
GLUCONOLACTONE (PHA)
Is found naturally in the skin and provides anti-ageing and gentle exfoliating benefits without sun sensitivity. Sensitive skin types as well as those who have had recent superficial cosmetic procedures will find comfort in this molecule’s gentle nature. Gluconolactone strengthens the skin’s moisture barrier leaving it more resilient, while also providing potent antioxidant benefits. Gluconolactone is a welcome choice for sensitive skin types or following recent superficial cosmetic procedures where the skin can be more sensitive.
LACTOBIONIC and MALTOBIONIC ACIDS (PHAs)
Part of the PHA family, these re also non-irritating. These patented ingredients are known as "Bionic Acids" and are derived from natural sugars. They help to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, enlarged pores and roughness through gentle exfoliation. The Bionics are potent antioxidants and help maintain a youthful look. The Bionics are medically coveted because they are super powered chelators and humectants, protecting skin and attracting moisture to the delicate barrier for added hydration boosting and comfort. The Bionics are the key choice for very dehydrated, parched and dry skin types.
OTHER INGREDIENTS
NEOGLUCOSAMINE®
A patented non-acid amino sugar that diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while also alleviating the appearance of dark spots for a more even skin tone. NeoGlucosamine® is a building block of skin’s natural Hyaluronic Acid and helps promote firming of the skin. It gently exfoliates the skin to reveal fresh new cells. AMINOFIL®
A revolutionary, patented amino acid derivative. This ingredient targets expression lines such as scowl (glabellar) lines, furrows, smile (nasolabial) lines and crow’s feet. AMINOFIL® is an ingredient solution for volume building, plumping and firming skin’s appearance.
Pure Retinol
Retinol, a form of Vitamin A, helps smooth wrinkles and diminishes the appearance of uneven skin tone.
Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a natural glycosaminoglycan (GAG) found in the skin’s support matrix. When applied topically, HA acts as a moisture sponge to attract water and hydrate at the skin’s surface.
